In case yours hasn't arrived or you missed it here is the Xmas card front this year. Its a picture of reg the cockerel and his groupies! he's quite a handsome chap don't you think, knackered but handsome! Took this is the snow last year, thought it was quite a festive looking picture!
Challenge Complete!!, we sold most of our land and Farm House! Enabling us to concentrate on Purl Design LLP - Sustainable Architecture and allow our guests to enjoy the peaceful retreat here at The Mill Cottages in either of our one bed cottages, along with our resident pets, ponies, chickens, goats, cats and dogs! We have spent the last year renovating the 400 year old mill for us to live in, completed late 2012 and love every minute!!!... We are looking forward to another successful year.

POOCH AT WORK!
Gem is trying her best to pose in a professional manner in the office. This is the best she could do, sitting there listening to the meeting going on like she was actually interested. She is so funny. Its like they actually work there, gem and lucky always go down to work first thing in the morning and its a nightmare to try to get them out to do some real work, I was out doing the fields and they just looked at me through the office door, not budging an inch just sat there in the warm!. They are right lazy pooches, lucky even has taken a bed down there of late.
GREAT LIGHT
Wish I took my camera out, I haven't done any photography really this year due to this year just not quite working out the way we had hoped. Maybe I will try to get my head round it next year, be great to start some real photography. This year we have been just concentrating on getting through it in one piece! But these shots would have been stunning on a real camera the light was fantastic and colours really vivid. I reckon when the skies are as beautiful as this is just Dad saying hi, I know he is about as I can hear him giving me grief when I do stupid things! He would say "ooohhh Michelle come on, give it here" and then do it effortlessly right, he had a knack of doing that, but I did make him laugh and despair at the same time! a talent only I have got ha ha, he only ever brought happiness to what would seem a normal day, been a few rainbows of late too.
THE CAKE IS DONE!
Xmas cake ready and marizipaned (is that a real word!) and iced ready for the big day. Mince pies and sausage rolls made and frozen… just have to wrap presents, oh actually buy presents, work out the xmas eve menu and xmas day menu as we have mum and brother and family coming, which will be nice, see if anyone else is stuck for somewhere to go eh we could have the great british xmas here at the mill! hey that would be something might have to think about that one ha ha…oh I better order food and drink I guess. Cant seem to remember anything at the moment!
AAAH BLESS!
Told Shadow about our evening at eden and this was the best she could come up with ...
to try out for one of santas reindeers… never mind shadow a little more tweaking required maybe???
OMG I SAW SANTA!
I was so lucky to peep in and see Santa making his list for Xmas, I am sooo excited Santa and reindeers now thats something eh!, his reindeer's were parked up at Eden… probably parked is the wrong phrase! but they were quite happy and ready and waiting for the big day. We also listened to the kids stories read by a great story teller and a really good jazz band playing in the biomes. There was ice skating and food and a lantern procession. Great place to visit if you are down this way or live here! See there I go again, great to live here eh!… We walked up in the light and attempted to walk back in the pitch black…not recommended! we ended up in hedges and all sorts couldn't see a thing as there are no street lights , Pete had the only small torch and he seemed to think it was good to look up in the trees or over in the field, but never in front of us!!! cheers Pete!
LUCKY TO LIVE HERE!
Lucky to live at all…. But look at this scenery right on our doorstep! walking from par to polkerris, the little beach on the way called boothey or boogey bay and then onto polkerris. Looks great doesn't it, my favourite places and my favourite pics to share with you, who wouldn't want to live here and to see this doesn't cost a penny!
WROND BED!
I am not sure about our animals I think they have lost the plot, Shadow tried for ages to fold herself into Gems small bed, ensuring no arm or leg was hanging out, it took her ages to get her body into this bed, then Lucky and Gem who have a kind of mutual respect that you don't share space, you play with each other but never never must you be in the same personal space… so I thought this picture was really funny, gem in the bed and the look on luckys face is saying "really? really? If i don't look at her I can pretend this isn't happening!… I can't believe this, someone move and quick!" It was all very odd, I had to sort them out and put them all in the right beds. Never send two in a bed before especially with those pair.
IS MY CAT WELSH!
I have a cat that sleeps on the sky box and then some how, records the welsh channel, its never anything else, just the welsh one…. very odd kitty!!!
cath rhyfedd iawn. Efallai y gall hi dysg i mi cymraeg! - I think that says…. very odd cat. Maybe she can teach me welsh! if it doesn't I do apologise this was my best effort!

After her recording mission is complete she settles down to cuddle up with Santa!!

WHAT A GREAT MORNING
Pre breakfast Morning walk on Par beach, nice way to start the day… ahhhh let the madness and stress begin, I'm ready for it now!!! ha ha
BREAKFAST AT LAKESIDE!
Well you have heard of breakfast at tiffanys well this is sort of similar in its own sort of way…. actually helen and daves cooking probably better! We had the signets asking for their toast…. the tables were just defrosting outside so helen even made us a couple of place mats to keep our breakfast from freezing too quickly! see we know how to live… thanks helen!
PROBABLY SHOULD HAVE HELPED!
I probably should have helped instead of taking a picture of pete struggling, but its the first time he has attempted to multi task ha ha thought better document it… sorry pete!!
FIND LUCKY?
I heard the Navy on exercise in the bay and making loud bangs, nipped downstairs to check on the dogs as I know they don't like fireworks or loud noises, and couldn't find lucky…… she had got her self right under the blanket not even an ear was in sight, I am not sure how she did it in the position she is in, sort of squashed in the corner… poor lucky, she is supposed to be a gun dog!
WEIRD WEATHER
I hope all our guests in their homes are safe and not too affected by the storms, we had a hail storm the other day, really weird, it was the heaviest hail storm I have seen in years, even hurt your face when it hit you.. Shadow weirdly loved it.. very odd dog! But we were lucky no flooding as yet.
INSIDE DECS
Well these went up mid November, thought I was going to be late! but no all under control. Heres a picture of a few, oh and pete carrying in the tree, he thinks I am helping on the other end, but no I left it to take the picture, he will find out when he reads this!
WHERE DOES THE TIME GO!
We probably have no idea as a typical night for us is working late then just as we are about to site down the cats decide its play time and come through the cat flap like there is a war outside… when intact it is only the tom…. probably the dad to all of them, he is quite prolific!! then the rugby tackle mouse game commences, they are quick little things, its the little ones I dislike they have jaws of doom on them and once they got you there is no getting away. The ones that make me laugh are the proper little mouse ones with big ears, they sit up on their back legs and rub their hands together, as if to ask for some cheese, they are friendly little fellows, but have a habit of climbing up the curtain!….so thats the sport over with then its not long before bed , work and it all starts again, in between pack lunches, sorting out homework, clothes, kids cars etc etc normal kinda stuff! sometimes we can have a whole day of jobs and issues before the real word even awakes, sometimes by 8am we have had another day! ha ha

WHEN THEY WERE LITTLE!
Here are Smurf, Scrappy and Munchie (who went to live with Tim at the office) Munchie is in the front, all of our 6 cats begin with "s" It is kind of tradition now but we have had so many cats we are running out of names!… But these were taken one xmas when they were little and I just came across them…. They usually knock on the holiday cottage doors to get some attention, as if they don't get enough at home!!!!
Heres one of the last little litter of Kune Kunes we had before we had to give up breeding due to selling some of our land, we haven't enough now to breed. But they were cute and liked to dress up haha
These are this years fledglings that hatched her at The Mill…. Thought I would share some cute pictures!!
OUT FOR A CUPPA!
After work on Saturday we alway go down to Lakeside Cafe, well worth it if you are down here, we cleaned the cottages, mucked out did the horse poo!! we have such interesting lives eh ha ha then down for the start of the weekend a chilli and chips, best chill in town!We then rock climbed to Polkerris with all three dogs in tow, it was a bit technical at some points!!!, and we decided to not go back the same way we came, Shadow came seal watching from Polkerris, the others weren't too bothered and went to sleep but shads was there keeping an eye on the seals!….
ODD SEASON
It is odd at the moment as our old tree next door always looses its leaves in one go, but it is late this year, and our tropical spiky plant has flowered again?? Plus we have had quite a few late butterflies... I am no Alan Titchmarsh but this doesn't seem right does it? Mind you how would I know whats normal with my life!!!!
CHAPEL PORTH
Great place to go, the tide isn't often out this far, and it meant the dogs had the whole beach for a while, its got a great little cafe on the beach who do bacon and mushroom baguette with garlic butter, they were sooooo nice. Lucky was so excited she couldn't contain herself, she didn't know what to do next. So if you are visiting us, take a visit down there, its stunning, but check the tide times first. You can walk to St.Agnes and Porthtowan form there. Sorry probably a few too many pics! but it was stunning and the surf was huge, I think they have the body boarding champs here..
ANYONE FOR A PRESENT?
Smurf just can't help himself, As soon as I unwrap anything he jumps in it, He was quite happy in this bag fighting himself for a few hours, very odd chap...
SHADOW CAME TO WORK!
We were about to go and do our site visits when Shadow thought she wasn't going to let us go without her, so jumped in the car and wouldn't get out. She had a whole day of visits, we have four on site over there at the moment, quite a lot to manage, but they are stunning projects , lucky clients!
. She enjoyed Polzeath beach and had a quick car break there….

STILL SUNNY!
We have been really lucky the last week or so, its cold but not biting cold and really sunny its great love it, don't want the rain back, I hate the rain. Heres a picture of the sun in the trees before the Wild life trust cut
them all down… yes you heard right the Cornwall Wild life trust think it is better that they go for the wild life??? deers??? horse shoe bats (protected), etc etc, if I wanted to cut down one tree I would have every man and his dog giving me grief, one rule for one and one for them it seems, I can't even sneeze near the ruddy horseshoe bats. I must look up the european law about it, I don't think they can do this, especially not now we are in November they will upset their hibernation…. ok rant over… it will be fine when I have had my walk and been fed ha ha… But if anyone knows anything I can do please let me know!

XMAS DECS!
Started with the outside decorations for Xmas, these are a few of them, It took forever trying to figure out the wiring as they needed to come back to a similar position, got half way through and had to stop to take the dogs for a walk and the obligatory yummy breakfast at Lakeside Cafe with Helen and Dave, not sure what we would do without them, I think our sanity would be truly tested or gone!…
ALL TRIMMED!
The farrier came and trimmed Studley and Storms feet, they seem to be really healthy at the moment, probably because we have had them in a smaller paddock to stop them from eating themselves sick!… But the grass is now just about finished, so we will have to put them on a hard feed for the winter hay and pony nuts…oh and the odd carrot and apple etc, Storms favourite! Not sure the farrier would appreciate his backside being in my blog! oh well!
