KITCHEN SINK?

Who says you cant make your own furniture with odd bits of wood and string! We made a great kitchen sink up by the summer house to make it easier to wash up up there when we have our BBQ's I think its great, love it, just need a loo up there now and we can live there! Better not tell anyone they will be moving in! Laura wont be pleased that's her teaching space!

MMMM JAM

We picked 7 lb of blackberries! made 4lb of jam and froze the rest to make pies at a later date, my favourite jam is blackberry you cant beat it, and free fruit, perfect, Ill have to talk Pete into picking some more with me! he loves it ha ha

ENJOYING A SWIM

The dogs love the water and particularly this river, they spend ages in it, making camps and trails! its funny to watch them, they really enjoy it and play with each other.

HOW HAS YOUR LAST THREE DAYS BEEN?

Well here's ours.... Pete lost all his credit cards some how, or they were stolen from the hotel room, we have had the CCTV camera requested to be searched, but had to stop all of those and re order them, then had changeover in the cottages, muck out etc, then thought oh we will have a afternoon off and go up to see the Steam rally, only just got there and Laura rang from work, she had hurt her toe I thought she said, so rushed back expecting a gruesome discovery at her work, only to be told it was her tongue, it had gone numb, something was in her sandwich that hurt and she couldn't speak, and her face was numb and was feeling faint, so straight up to A & E where they found out she may have eaten a wasp and it had stung her tongue so anti histamine was given and I cooked mash for tea!!!.... then after that issue, thought the next day was going to be fine, got another phone call half was through the day, I had been shopping for Pete's BBQ and home by 8.30am , and truro with Steve to get college clothes there and back in two hours! and meringues in oven, I was on a mission so a phone call from Laura wasn't what I could have done with to say the least, whilst she was having her bulb changed in halfords (bearing in mind she was coming back form having the car windows fixed!) when a mad woman driving at speed whizzed into a parking space behind Laura and didn't brake, rammed into the back of Laura moving her car on top of the woman that was fixing Laura's bulb, Laura had to get int he car and reverse back off the woman who luckily isn't seriously hurt..... I couldn't believe it, Laura had taken the details of the woman that caused the accident, but had missed off the last digit of the licence plate and the woman had given the wrong number.... so wound up like a spring and stressed, I drove around to find her to sort this mess out, and boy was I ready to sort it! and figure out how she was going to pay, hopefully she was insured..... but when I found her, finally, it was OK, she was insured and all will be sorted, but its a real headache getting it all done, all this whilst my meringues were in the oven!...Oh heck how I ever got sorted to do that BBQ tea I will never know, i did a cup cake tower instead of a cake there just wasn't enough time, but had candle so all was ok!! Then BBQ for birthday which all enjoyed, I then had to sort and pack for the next day to take Pete out walking, all sorted and bed by 11.30am, got up walked the dogs about 7am and then out for the day, when I got another phone call from Laura....this time good news, Aaron after 4 years had proposed and a wedding date will be around 2015 after lauara secures her first teaching post, good news, but more to think about, we searched for a card and went about finding a day we are all here (this Sunday) to do an engagement party, just need to organise that and after Sunday its just back to uni and back to college and I need a quieter few weeks!!!  All this on top of work etc....oh and steves phone gave up the ghost!Hows your last three days been?

HAPPY BIRTHDAY PETE

Pete was 21 again yesterday and we had a BBQ, we had some of the family over, Colin and Petes mum and my mum and tim, holly, mason, and us lot! It was a lovely evening and glad Colin and Pam could make it over. Only trouble is it got dark and I haven't got any pictures, the only two that came out are these two! Not much cop really! But Pete had a nice time which is the main thing.

DOGS!

Gem loves having her picture taken, she will pose for ages and grin at you, whilst shadow just pretends to be a rug! Well I guess you cant have it all eh! they have been fairly ok lately, no major drama, just the usual!

KAYAKING

Weather has been great lately and we manage to get out kayaking most weeks twice, one day it was really heavy in the sky and some had torrential rain and thunder/lightening, we could see it but thankfully it didn't get to us as we were out on the water!! Might have been a different story! It is so peaceful out on the boat, fairly hard work on the arms but love it, even when Pete makes me go up a creak for no reason!

LAUNDRY

Steve painted the laundry for me so it blends in a bit with the flower bed, you cant see it from the road now, looks like part of the plants! and looks cute from the front too! thanks steve, got there in the end!

NAUGHTY ANIMALS

Our ponies and goats are always up to no good, Storm is the best health wise she has been for years due to the restricted paddock, I used to feel bad she was in a small paddock but she has not had one spell of laminitis since she was reduced in paddock size, she will just eat until she dies, crazy pony! Rocky and Ringo just drive the ponies nuts.

FUNGI

No not pete! ha ha. Just wondering if anyone knows if this one is edible and what is it called??

VISITORS!

But not of the human kind, so far this week we have had net doors cat asleep on the bed and having a bite to eat, she is really sweet, sid the snail making his home in the kitchen, and a massive wasp thing... I think its a type of horse fly, it is huge, dont really want that one visiting again!!

FOWEY REGATTA WEEK

Fowey regatta week is always full of excitement, Pete and I kayaked up the river to watch the red arrows from the boat, it was quite a way as we had to park at Golant as parking in fowey was out of the question!.. Took us a while to kayak against the tide up the river, but we made it and had our coffee on a rock whilst holding on to the boats for dear life, such a relaxing time we have!!!Luckily we parked in the car park and not on the road as the tide was really high that night and others who had parked in the road got flooded and cars ruined! we were stranded in the pub as we couldn't get the car out of the car park for two hours until the tide had turned! such a  shame we had to have a drink and something to eat, forced to sit down!!terrible! But red arrows were great, very talented pilots, I held my breath a couple of times!

FED LEMURS!

One last reference to the Isle of Wight! Laura and Steve paid for us to feed the lemurs in the island zoo for Pete's birthday. We had a great time, we were in with all the different kinds of lemurs for well over an hour, learning about them and their ways. I was very impressed to know the one in charge was called Michelle!! Pete held his head at that point...don't know why! They were lovely, they can be quite vicious but seemed to like us ok. Heres some pictures. We came back wanting to buy a zoo!!!! Watch this space ha ha `it really was a very special time, makes a change to spend time away, and we really needed it, in fact we needed a week or two but not sure Laura, Aaron, Steve and mum would cope! But thanks guys!

NEEDLES

Oh I forgot these, we visited the needles by boat via a very long high chair lift, which was quite scary! We walked there over the cliffs from a neighbouring town, it took ages but the views were worth it, definitely the way to visit the island, but foot along the coast its really pretty. This little bird seemed to take a liking to us and followed us for quite a while, even had lunch with us!

HAD A BREAK!

We have cancelled this break so many times over the last year as our year hasn't really gone to plan in any shape or form, the only positive things to happen this year so far is steve to pass his college course and laura passing her degree! So we actually went on holiday for a few days to the Isle of Wight... it was much different to what I had imagined, there are some very busy spots with amusements etc, not really our cup of tea, but then we found the other bits and they are really beautiful, its bigger than I thought and doesn't feel like an island like some islands. Here are a few pics of our fav bits! this one is a nature reserve with a twitchers hideout, loved it here, no one about!

BUTTERFLIES

We planted Buddleia everywhere to attract the butterflies and help the honey production, it has certainly worked I took a few pictures of the grateful inhabitants...stunning aren't they, now you all go plant some, we need them!!! look how happy they make you! ha ha

PLANTS!

Just a quick picture to prove the plants have just about survived that heat wave we had, we did loose a fair few but all is well, the skies have been quite dramatic lately with really black skies, then massive showers, but no sooner you are drenched through they stop, still warm tho!
